About Us
The Seamless Tube Manufacturers Association of India (STMAI) is the representative body of India’s carbon and alloy seamless pipe manufacturers. Established in 2021 and register in 2023 as a non-profit Organization under the Societies Registration Act of 1860, STMAI was born out of a shared vision to unify industry leaders and address challenges of national significance through collaborative solutions.
Our member companies account for nearly 85–90% of the country’s seamless pipe production capacity, serving critical sectors including oil & gas, power generation, petrochemicals, refineries, and exports. With a collective manufacturing capacity exceeding 1.6 million metric tonnes annually, the association supports thousands of jobs and contributes directly to infrastructure development and import substitution.
STMAI actively engages with various government bodies such as the Ministry of Steel and Ministry Of Commerce , DPIIT, BIS, and PSU organizations, playing a vital role in shaping industry policy, regulatory standards, and sustainability initiatives. Our commitment is to not only protect and empower the domestic seamless pipe industry but also to lead its transformation through innovation, standardization, and responsible industrial growth.

Capacity Building
Representing over 85% of India’s carbon seamless pipe output, our members support thousands of jobs and drive exports to Asia, the Middle East, and beyond — contributing to both economic growth and global positioning.
Developed advanced capabilities to manufacture drill pipes, subsea pipes, premium connections, and oxygen cylinder tubes — all locally, reducing dependency on foreign imports and saving valuable foreign exchange.
Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Government e-Marketplace (GeM), becoming a trusted stakeholder in public procurement and policy implementation.
Successfully advocated for higher import duties to curb dumping, pushed for BIS standards, and actively engaged in government consultations to ensure fair representation of domestic manufacturers.
Member companies have collectively invested over ₹2,600 Crores in new technologies, plant expansion, premium product lines, and import substitutes — with an additional ₹1,700 Crores planned in the coming years.
